About APBAM 2026
The Asia Pacific Behavioural & Addictions Medicine Conference (APBAM) conference has a proud legacy as a regional leader in addiction and behavioural medicine education. Addictions are prevalent across all sections of society and take multifarious forms, affecting individuals and families from all walks of life.
Since its founding, APBAM’s mission has been to empower professionals and volunteers in the field with opportunities to learn from leading experts, gaining new insights and practical tools to become effective agents of change in their communities.
In line with this mission, the theme for APBAM 2026 is “Emerging Trends in Addictions and Mental Health”, reflecting our focus on the latest innovations and research shaping the future of recovery and wellbeing in this field, highlighting the latest developments in:
- Neuroscience and addiction recovery
- Trauma and family therapy
- Digital mental health innovations
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recovery
- Social and community resilience
Across two days of keynote lectures, workshops and panel discussions, we will spotlight cutting-edge topics including advances in neuroscience of addiction, innovative strategies in addiction recovery, trauma-informed approaches to trauma therapy, the role of family therapy in healing, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in mental health recovery. These topics address some of the most pressing and fast-evolving aspects of addiction medicine and mental healthcare, ensuring that APBAM 2026 offers rich learning relevant to current and future challenges.
We are excited to announce a lineup of internationally renowned keynote speakers who will anchor APBAM 2026. They include:
- Dr Anna Lembke (Stanford University, United States), a world-renowned addiction psychiatrist and best-selling author known for her work on the neuroscience of addiction.
- Dr Robert Rhoton (Arizona Trauma Institute, United States), a leading authority on trauma therapy and CEO of the Arizona Trauma Institute with decades of experience in mental health and trauma-informed care.
- Professor James Ogloff (Swinburne University, Australia) a distinguished forensic mental health expert and Executive Dean at Swinburne University’s School of Health Sciences.
